Yateley Complex Comprises 13 Lakes and a stretch of the River Blackwater The Split Lake holds Carp to over 30lb and Cats to over 40lb. It also holds Bream and Tench of Specimen Sizes. Going further west are the Horseshoe Lake, Pumphouse Lake, Lake 1 and the Tree Lake. All of these are designed for the pleasure angler with Tench, Bream, Carp and abundant Silver Fish to be caught. Firstly the Summer Pit holds huge Crucian Carp. Two acres in size make this an intimate fishery with true Crucians ranging from 2lb upwards. Tench are also present to about the 8lb mark. Adjoining this pit is the River Blackwater that flows through both sides of the Complex. Holding Chub, Roach, Perch, Pike and the occasional Carp and Barbel, it is an interesting small river fishery with all tactics catching.

On the far bank of the River Blackwater is the Match Lake. With three islands and many features, this lake offers Carp and Cats to Specimen sizes with Silver Fish, Bream and Tench. The best Carp weighs in at about 38lb with a large number of back-up fish including some recently introduced from the Copse Lake. Kittens, baby Wels Catfish, were stocked into the Lake in 1993.
Many now exceed the 40lb barrier up to 50lb+.

Between the Match Lake and the river is the Nursery Lake which is a shallow lake with a mixture of islands, snags, bars and pads. A depth over three feet is difficult to find! This water has been left to nature and holds a variety of fish including Carp to 20lb+ as well as bream, Tench, Roach and Perch. The Copse Lake (currently closed) is being revamped, drained and will eventually be restocked.

The Sandhurst Lake is the youngest lake on the Bait Tech Yateley Complex and is situated to the east of the complex. It is a relatively shallow lake with depths from 2ft to 8ft with an average of approximately 4ft. There is one island, from which fishing is permitted, and numerous sand bars and weed beds. Sandhurst Lake has always held a reasonable head of Carp but the population was boosted in 1998 with the introduction of over 300 young fish averaging 3lb. Six years later and these same fish are 20lb plus with many over 25lb and currently a dozen or more topping 30lb. These fish form the bulk of a Carp population numbering approximately 400! The venue Carp record stands at 42lb 4oz but not for long we suspect!

In addition to the Carp a good head of Bream and Tench are present with both species
running to Double Figures

The South Lake is an attractive, mature lake full of features on CEMEX Angling’s world famous Dynamite Yateley Complex and it offers secure car parking, toilet facilities and a disabled / wheelchair swim. Following the last introduction of carp in 2005 the fishery now contains well over 500 double figure carp. In addition to the doubles there is a good head of both Commons and Mirrors over 20lb to a current top weight of just over 30lb. As far as the fishing is concerned there is no need for a really sophisticated approach but it pays to have a good walk around the lake before you choose a swim. There are bars, weed beds and hard gravel patches to be found so make sure you have a good cast about with a marker rod before you start, and don’t neglect the margins! Small beds of bait have been most productive on the fishery during the past couple of seasons and a pop-up over a small pva stocking of trout pellet and chopped boilies has accounted for numerous catches as has maize fished in conjunction with the method feeder. The Yateley Angling Centre will be pleased to offer up to the minute advice on bait and tactics.

This venue, one of the country’s more famous Carp Lakes, has had fresh life breathed into it after more than four years of lying dormant. After Basil, the North Lakes largest resident, had died, the lake was mostly devoid of Carp Anglers. CEMEX Angling decided that the lake should be made special again, and given its Carp fishing heritage, it will once more make a special place for itself in carping history.

The lake has been stocked with approximately 100 carp, comprising 12 hand- picked, Sutton Strain Fish in the 20lb bracket and 50 smaller Suttons at mid to high doubles. The Sutton strain is renowned in the Carp world as not only producing extremely good-looking, well-proportioned fish, but also fish that quickly become accustomed to their habitat and the natural food to be found there. This makes them not the easiest of fish to tempt, even though they may never have seen a hook before.

Around 10 fish were put back in the lake after it was drained and these ranged from 25lb to just under 30lbs. These fish were in the lake at the time Basil was alive, and having remained uncaught during the past four years, they provide a real element of mystery and promise for the dedicated Carp Angler. Given the growth rates already recorded in The North Lake, these originals could well be pushing the 35lb mark. To complete the lakes stocking regime, 30 fish from the Blue Pool have also been introduced.

The North Lake is about 12 acres in size, with quite a number of small islands clustered toward the south bank. A prominent spit of land juts out to create a large bay that is nearly cut off from the rest of the lake. This is a comparatively shallow lake, with a silt bed that can be littered with debris, and care is needed with rig presentation. There have been several anglers fishing the venue for a short time before it was open to the general public. These in the main were angling journalists putting together features to use in the angling press to promote the lake. These magazines will be out in due course and people will be able to see what, if anything, was caught. Mick Barnes, Ian Russell and Barry Hearn recently fished the lake to see what the customer can expect to catch and to monitor the growth of the carp. The following pictures are proof that the future of this venue is an extremely exciting one. The famous Yateley North Lake is back and its getting set to make carping history all over again !

The Pads Lake is a mature lake on the west side of the main Bait Tech Yateley Complex. It has an extensive gravel bar system and an average depth of 4 to 5 feet. The lake name comes from the two magnificent stands of water lilies that adorn the western side of the water. The Pads Lake was drained in January 1998 and all of the fish removed. Subsequently 100 prime four year-old carp of the Fishers Pond strain were introduced to a top weight of 14lb. These young Carp have thrived in their new home and the average weight of the fish is now around the 25lb mark with a good head of 30lb Carp to a current top weight of 39lb 12oz. Anglers fishing the water during 2006 enjoyed some exceptional catches throughout the spring, summer, and autumn but the winter months also proved to be productive with big fish falling steadily throughout the colder period. Why fish abroad? You and your mates can have a lake to yourselves in the heart of the most famous Carp Fishery in the world without all the hassle involved in foreign carping.

With the Yateley Angling Centre on the doorstep to service all your bait and tackle requirements there is just no need to go any further!
