19th OCTOBER 2008 CATCH REPORT
With the Winter Ticket having now started at Llyn Y Gors (01248 713410) the specimen fishing on site has really started well with a whole host of fish being banked. Darren Buntz finally overcame his blanking sessions on Thompson's Pool to reel in a beautiful looking 24lb 6oz Mirror. Darren was using Dynamite Baits Fresh Prawn 15mm frozen boilies and was absolutely thrilled with his capture. Following a similar pattern, young angler Arwyn caught his first fish on the lake from The Aquarium swim this time using Smartbait CSL 15mm boilies. The youngster's fish was a gorgeous 18lb 3oz Mirror really emphasising how well the lake fishes in the Winter climate. However the pick of the week has to go to Danny Butler who captured three fish this week with the biggest specimen weighing at 31lb 3oz. Fishing with Richworth KG1 frozen boilies tipped with artificial corn, Danny who was fishing on Double Bay Left also caught a 16lb 2oz Mirror as well as a 17lb 2oz Common Carp.

Moving across to The Old Carp Lake, a flurry of fish have graced the bank this week. Phil Cartner was arguably the most in form angler this week with 11 fish from 'The Door' with a mixture of Commons and Mirrors weighing up to 11lb 8oz. Adam and Chris Owen similarly had a variety of Carp with great success with their biggest fish weighing in at 13lb 6oz between the twelve fish they caught. A mixture of baits having been working well on The Old Carp Lake this week but on average, Nash Scopex Squid Liver with Robin Red and Smartbait CSL frozen boilies have really been pulling in the fish. Nick Slater has continued catching fish with four fish to 11lb from The Old Bay and Cliff and Wayne Riley have had eight fish between them weighing up to 12lb using Nash Scopex Squid Liver with Robin Red.

Not only are the specimen lakes fishing well but so too are the Match and Pleasure Lakes with many large nets being weighed in. Carp are particularly oin the feed this time of year using soft feed pellets and hookable pellets over the top whilst the Barbel are still being caught regularly on luncheon meat.

12th AUGUST 2008 CATCH REPORT
Its been another exceptional week of specimen fishing at Llyn Y Gors with a whole host of fish being banked. Starting with the Old Carp lake another monstrous Catfish was reeled in by Jamie Thomas weighing a massive 25lb 8oz. Continuing on from this Jamie had another 3 Mirror Carp to 15lb and others on the lake have been doing particularly well as well.
Progressing to Thompson's Pool, it was father like son as Chris Leather Snr and Chris Leather Jnr both smashed their personal bests with 2 fish within 24 hours. Chris Leather Jnr, only 14, opted to fish on Double Bay Right and was rewarded with a gorgeous 22lb 8oz Mirror Carp using Dynamite Baits Source Boilies and the youngster was delighted with his new pb
And then his father managed to bank his own personal best with a colourful 22lb 8oz Ghost carp this time banked from the Double Bay Left swim. It was in fact Mainline Pro Activ Pineapple boilies that this time enticed the large Carp. Not to be outdone, regular specimen hunter Matt Lea aged 18 got in on the action opting for the Aquarium swim and weighing a superb Common Carp in at 19lb 10oz.
Over on the Karpium, in the rainy conditions a few more fish have seen the light of the day with Gareth Edwards fishing for 48 hours with 4 fish weighing up to a steady 15lb being banked onto the mat. And with the anglers braving the weather rewards have been greatly appreciated with more big match weights from anglers such as Welsh International Paul Jones

5th AUGUST 2008 CATCH REPORT
Some People Are Still Replying Highlighting Issues with the report sent, nothing has been sent differently so we dont understand the problems occurring. Hopefully this will have sorted it out, but any problems still please let me know*
Its been another exceptional week of specimen fishing at the picturesque setting of Llyn Y Gors in North Wales with some lovely fish being banked in the bright sunshine of Summer. In particular the young anglers have really been triumphing with fishing dreams really coming true. Jordan Dean arguably has had the capture of the week with a superb brace on Thompson’s Pool. The 15 year old angler reeled in a gorgeous 23lb 2oz Common followed by a massive 25lb 4oz Mirror Carp from ‘Double Bay Left’ swim. Richworth KG1 15mm was the enticing hookbait that did the trick on a simple lead clip set up accompanied by small and accurate PVA bagging.
Not to be outdone further around the lake, another young angler, Kyle Sumner produced another top quality brace showing some high class angling skills. Kyle had been baiting an area on the ‘Nightmare’ swim for quite some time whilst awaiting that elusive run, and he was absolutely delighted as he not only banked a 22lb208oz Mirror Carp but also a lovely coloured 24lb 10oz Mirror.
Moving over to the new lake, The Karpium, Jack Murrell captured a fantastic 18lb 6oz Common Carp amongst another 5 fish whilst using maggots tied on a rig ring during a 48 hour session. Jack opted to fish on the left hand side of The Karpium on the swim ‘Nats Curve’ and this option certainly paid off after resting his swim for a period of time whilst enticing them to feed with a continual handful of maggots being fed in. Nick Thomas also proved that the other side of the lake had been fishing particularly well with a stunning 16lb 12oz Mirror Carp weighing in over on Pablo’s Island.
The Match and Pleasure lakes in addition are fishing very well at the moment with bags in excess of 100lb being recorded. In the Summer Sun plenty of Carp up to 9lb caught on the Pleasure Lake o ff the top with bread or dog mixer the particular favourites. Later in the evening with the heat cooled down, the overhanging trees of the lake have been hot action areas with 10mm fruity boilies the best bait for on the bottom. Conversely, over on the Match Lake meat has been a particularly good bait at the minute with plenty of Barbel, Bream and Carp captured using this technique as well as the new Nutrabaits 6mm hookable pellets, especially in Trigga flavouring.

23rd JUNE 2008 CATCH REPORT
Paul 'Bikey' Harris got it absolutely 'spot on this week on Thompson's Pool as he reeled in the massive Mirror Carp labelled 'Spot' dead on the 30lb 0oz mark. Paul was fishing Barbecue Corner of the lake using Richworth KG1 15mm frozen boilies topped with artificial corn and this certainly did the trick as he enticed the Carp from underneath the lillypads. Continuing this fine form during the session, Paul then banked another Mirror Carp which this time weighed in at 22lb 10oz using very similar tactics with loose feeding throughout the day around the baited area.

Fishing alongside Paul was David Hopley on 'The Rock' swim of the lake and David too captured a personal best with a cracking 29lb 10oz Mirror Carp. Frozen Richworth KG1 was once again the victor showing how increidbly well the bait does on all of the lakes at Llyn Y Gors. Fishing tight to the island with feeding of frozen boilies and pellets enabled the fish to feel comfortable int heir feeding resulting in this stonking fish as well as another 23lb Mirror Carp. Not to be outdone was Neil Gillan who himself grabbed a 22lb Mirror Carp from 'Nightmare' of the lake continuing to show the excelling performance of Thompson's Pool.

In comparison, more fish have been coming out of The Old Carp Lake but on a smaller scale. Matt Lea fished The Door and finished up with 7 fish in just one night with the best a 14lb Mirror Carp. Nick Slater also got in on the action and ended with 4 in a night with a 13lb 11oz Common tipping the scales as the heaviest. No captures of catfish this week yet they certainly are feeding with quite a few eye witness reports of small and large ducks being scoffed from the surface by these huge beasts weighing up to 34lb.

Conitnuing the specimen trend, The karpium has also been fishing extremely well this week with Ian Woodvine proving great triumph on the lake after some not so fruitful sessions on the lake. Fishing with Smartbait Llyn Y Gors L1 frozen boilies, Ian firstly bagged a 19lb 12oz Mirror Carp before moving onto a 21lb 9oz Mirror Carp banked at 4am in the pouring rain. Just to cap off an already sterling performance by the North Wales based angler was a gorgeous 17lb 8oz dark Common Carp reeled in using similar tactics.

On the other end of the angling spectrum, match fishing has been going extremely well this week on both The Match and Pleasure Lakes. Dynamite Baits new pellet flavour range of Pineapple and Strawberry hookable pellets have resulted in some fantastic catch results with the Carp and Barbel certainly taking a liking to them. Meanwhile a few anglers have braved all night sessions on The Pleasure Lake using 10mm boilies resulting in very little sleep indeed. Reports from some sleep deprived anglers highlighted playing two fish at once with some fantastic carp to 12lb coming out.

16th JUNE 2008 CATCH REPORT
Mike Ratcliffe had an absolutely phenomenal session on The Karpium at Llyn Y Gors whilst fishing for 72 hours which resulted in 4 20lb Carp in 12 hours and a grand catch total of over 120lb! Mike began fishing on Bullrush Bank alongside three friends and managed to catch 5 fish with the biggest weighing in at 11lb 7oz. The mixture of frozen Llyn Y Gors L1 boilies and red maggot was certainly doing the trick in pulling in the fish and Mike continued this method as he switched over to Pablo’s Island. Braving the weather at times, Mike’s reward truly came true as he reeled in a gorgeous 19lb 8oz Mirror Carp. Following on from this came a 20lb 6oz Mirror Carp, a 21lb 4oz Mirror Carp and a 22lb 2oz personal best Mirror Carp. As the capturer of this fish, Mike had the honours of naming the fish and has decided to name it ‘Maurice’ so we hope we’ll see this fish growing and fulfilling its potential.

It was an absolutely fantastic session for the 35 year old who was delighted with the fishing. The 22lb 2oz Mirror Carp is also the new lake record despite the fish being stocked with plenty of fish weighing up the biggest at 28lb 12oz (held by Joe Newby in stocking picture). In fact a third of the fish in the Karpium are over the 20lb mark with there being over 100 20lb+ carp stocked in the lake amongst 200 other fish majority between 12lb and 18lb. There is another further stocking of 30 18-25lb Zip and Leney Mirror Carp planned for October 2008 and this lake is becoming better and better as it continues to mature
