GOLD ACCREDITATION FOR THE GLEBEWe are pleased to be able to announce that pools 1 to 7 at the Glebe have all been awarded a Gold Accreditation under the recently introduced Fisheries Accreditation Scheme.
The Fisheries Accreditation Scheme is a joint venture by the Institute of Fisheries Management, the Angling Foundation and the Professional Coarse Fisheries Association, supported by the Environment Agency. It has been introduced to encourage fishery managers to take responsibility for the proactive management of their fisheries. In doing so, they will greatly improve the quality of the sport fishing by enhancing the habitat, water quality and the other aquatic components of the fish’s environment.
The Scheme is based upon a set of standards that are designed for the welfare of fish within fisheries. Achieving these standards largely centres on the Institute of Fisheries Management codes of practice and its biosecurity codes for the management of stillwater fisheries.
We are one of the first five fisheries in the country to be awarded this accreditation. This is a fantastic achievement for us and highlights the quality of the fish and their environment at the Glebe
THE ACORNS CHARITY MATCH.Venue The Glebe, Peckleton Leicester.Saturday 14 June 08 A total of 64 Anglers were booked in for the second fundraising event for The Acorns Charity.Acorns is a great charity that cares for sick children and support for the family.Bob Andrews and his team plus the anglers raised over £1800 and everyone had a great fishing day at this fabulous fishery.A super raffle followed with over 50 prizes supplied by the Fishing Tackle industry and individuals.Winner of the match was Gordon Parker with assistance from Barbara, this combination called Team Parker weighed in 116lbs 12oz to win a very tightly fought contest. SECTION A Stu Johnson 100lbsSECTION B Paul Jarram 93lbsSECTION C Gordon Parker 116lbs 12ozSECTION D Max Higgot 96lbs 07ozSECTION D Mick Stamp 95lbs 06ozSECTION E Geoff Reast 70lbs 11oz Bob Andrews thanked everyone who supported this charity and commented that raising money was extremely difficult this year due to national fund raising for several global disasters. Fishery owner Roy Marlow also thanked all of the Anglers and pointed out that The Glebe must be the best fishery in the country because Intransigent Graham Barry who is a 68-year-old pensioner managed 63lbs for a second in his section.Graham said “ I would have managed a bigger weight but some of the fish were to strong for me and it was ages before I got some of them to the net” Roy congratulated Graham and suggested that a number 4 elastic was a little on the light side. Mallory Park Fisheries WEEKEND REPORTS END 8 JUNE. Bloodbaths, suicides and very hurtful comments were all happening at the First Members Sunday event on Glebe Pools 1,4,5,6,&7.The complex lived up to its name as the best fishery in the country in glorious weather on Sunday. With a turnout of 55 anglers including all of the Super Stars it was always going to be an exciting match. This event was also a qualifier for the Champion of Mallory final scheduled for September. First the results, then the detail. SECTION 1 Ian Saigier 152LBS 10oz Chriss Allen 142lbs 00 Dominic Lanny 115lbs 10ozSECTION 2 Kev Russell 122LBS 08oz Garry Sadler 109lbs 02oz Keith Hudson 105lbs 060zSECTION 3 Chris Downs’ 176lbs 120z Stu O’Donnell 124lbs 08 Eric Burton 114lbs08SECTION 4 Ady Hull 107lbs 08oz Dan Hull 94lbs 06oz Chris Needham 85lbs 07ozSECTION 5 Paul Gardner 183lbs 140z Brian Envis 110lbs 0z Roy Marlow 104lbs 08ozSECTION 6 Scot Brown 157lbs 06oz Jarrad Smith 125lbs 06oz Gordon Parker 92lbs 03ozSECTION 7 Steve Conway 126lbs 0z Stu Johnson 84lbs 08oz Rich Morgan 82lbs 02oz Star of the show was Adi Hull who was in the wars, he chased after his top 5 kit that a carp was towing along the bank and did a spectacular 9.8-point dive to rescue his pole. The dive was perfect but unfortunately the water was not. With only a couple of feet of water at the point of entry the bottom proved harder than Adie’s nose. Like top class anger he fished on with blood pouring from the wound. Adi won the section and was then taken to hospital with a suspected broken nose.Every one was sympathetic including his son Dan who said, “He will be alright because he has got a thick scull” now that’s hurtful along with Adi’s nose. We have a number of Suicide watch’s going on. The first is for Domenic Lanni who weighed in 115 lbs, unfortunately his third net had a big hole in it and an estimated 80 lbs of fish escaped.Roy suggested that he should be awarded the section but was overruled by Chris Allen, at the next peg who commented Ò that’s what you expect with a cheap netÓ Chris was now looking at the section win, even his mates from Burton commented that only Chris could be that jammy. It was even suggested by someone with a name that sounds like Steve Conway that Chris’s pockets should be searched for Stanley blades. This was again suggested when Ian Saiger scuppered Chris’s section win with a great catch from peg 1. Remember Rob Clayton, our most improved angler? Well we may not see him again, he was pegged along side Scot Brown and young Jarred Smith. He had a right battering and after a couple of hours needed some counselling. He was heard to say to Scot and Jarrad “ I have tried everything I know and can not catch, what else can I do” the reply from Scot and Jarrad was “go home” which Rob promptly did with a tear in his eye and no sympathy. Now that is extremely hurtful. Also on suicide watch is Andy Kind who drew peg 30, the flier on pool 1.End peg Andy ran to his peg but was missing immediately after the weigh in.The weigh board said Andy had 44lbs with a note “ must try a lot harder, now that is hurtful.Scot Brown who was pegged on Pool 6 said, “ I heard some crying at the top end. Obviously it was Andy, he will not be coming again” We are very concerned about Leicester Professional Angler Mr Steve Porter, he failed to weigh and had a battering next peg. However he has a great car that can run in stealth mode as no one saw or heard him sneak away. There were some great performances, our man Ace Chris Downs is back, his travelling companion Chris Allen commented that the new tablets were working well and he is now stabilised, now that’s very hurtful. Mr Ward was again up to his usual tricks and was seen again walking to far bank to release his tackle, everyone knows that no one can consistently cast that bad and the Sensas bucket was the clue to why he really goes to the far bank every match. He was even nasty to the Pensioner Brian Envis who weighed in 110lbs.Dagga was heard to say, “ The Glebe is an awesome fishery, because when someone of Brian’s ability can catch over 100bs it must be awesome” now again that is hurtful. It should be mentioned that Team Parkers are now living in the modern world and have a computer.Team Parkers are out for battering everyone this year as Barbara believes there is a conspiracy to stop Gordon winning every match. We failed to mention Over Practice Bob Eaton this match because we could not find him afterwards. However the result sheet tells the story, poor old Bob was the lowest weight on the complex with only 23lbs.His travelling companion Ringo when ask for a comment said“ Bob drew the only peg he had not got any special rigs tied for, he has rigs for every other peg on the complex.
