Celtic Lakes Resort, a member of Premier Fisheries

Fishery Details:

Celtic Lakes Resort, WalesNestled in the tranquil countryside of West Wales, only four miles from Lampeter, Celtic Lakes Resort offers a massive 75 acres of outstanding fishing and superb holidays.

Choose from six lakes, each landscaped with native and tropical plants and waterfalls and all brimming with coarse fish including bream, perch, roach, rudd and tench, as well as carp to 39 lb. Celtic Lakes Resort is one of the few venues in Wales to stock catfish with cats to a mighty 64 lb. With the introduction of further 40 lb-plus carp and 60 lb-plus catfish, Celtic Lakes is set to become one of the premier big fish waters and holiday destinations in the UK.

Ambitious plans through 2008 will see the continued development of 16 five-star luxury lodges, a 20 bedroom hotel and a large clubhouse complete with restaurant, bars and an angler's bar. There are also plans for a tackle and bait shop.

Two lodges are already available for booking and each lodge will have four bedrooms capable of sleeping up to 11 people, a lounge, dining room and study as well as a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi - that’s true holiday luxury! In addition to the lodges, a 16th century thatched farmhouse is also available to let.

The surrounding region also boasts some of the finest river, canal, sea and estuary fishing in Wales. Alternatively, explore nearby Lampeter, an historic market town in the Teifi valley, visit the coastal town of Aberaeron or spend an evening in Aberystwyth, packed with excellent restaurants and bars. Whether fishing, sight seeing with the family or both you’ll find it all at Celtic Lakes resort.

The Lakes

Over 17 acres and with 40 well spaced pegs, Elysium or Lake 6 was developed as a specimen lake, and stocked with over 350 Marc Simmonds mirror carp between 4 and 10 lb and 350 commons between 2 and 20 lb. The lake has produced carp to 32 lb, the capture of a 40-pounder coming closer all the time. Elysium also contains over 250 catfish averaging 20-30 lb and reaching 60 lb-plus. Swims are gravel or bark topped platforms, large enough to accommodate rod pods. At 6 acres Churchill, Lake 5, holds large numbers of 4-10 lb carp plus roach, rudd, bream, tench, koi and perch. Further stocking will take place in 2008, including golden tench, crucian carp and a further 300 common carp averaging 8-10 lb but reaching 20 lb.

As with all the waters at Celtic Lakes, Churchill has been designed so that every peg has a feature to fish to without anglers needing not worry about crossing other lines.

About 2.5 acres but with only a dozen pegs, Lake 4 has been stocked with common carp to 15 lb and mirrors to 8 lb plus koi carp, bream, tench and roach.

Lake 3 is one of group of smaller lakes at the southern end of the fishery. Around 1.5 acres with ten pegs it holds smaller carp 5-8 lb, bream, roach, rudd, tench and koi carp.

The smallest lake with just one swim Lake 2 is perfect for those who want guaranteed peace and quiet! At just a quarter of an acre there are carp to 8 lb, bream, perch, tench, rudd and koi. Only slightly bigger Lake 1 is an acre with two swims, almost exclusively stocked with koi and rudd.
